D141 Broken claw mount

Postby jackg » Tue Jan 22, 2013 4:04 am

I have a D141 NV scope with a gen 2 tube. I had used it on a weaver rail on my 222, which is pushing it a little. One mount I tightened with a spanner as I had to use a nut because it was too close to the bolt to use the knurled nut. I over tightened the nut with the spanner and sheared off the stub of the claw mount.

Any suggestions for a replacement.

I looked at how it was made and tried to find out how the thread was attached to the claw, I could not see any brazing marks but the end has been turned, so maybe

it was turned from solid and then cut to final shape?

I could perhaps cut the old stub off with a dovetail cut into the claw and then braze a new stub into place?
